About

House of Kalam and Chinmaya University come together to launch the “Kalam Sandesh Vahini” – a one of its kind mobile exhibition on the life, works and the vision of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. This is a unique dedication to Dr. Kalam, one of India’s greatest visionaries, fondly titled as ‘The Missile Man of India’ and ‘People’s President’. Dr. Kalam has made momentous contribution to India’s Scientific Heritage through his involvement in varied fields ranging from nuclear technology to designing low cost stents for the heart or lightweight calipers for polio victims.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was closely associated with Chinmaya Mission and had also inaugurated the birth centenary celebrations of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda at Ernakulam on May 6, 2015. Swami Mitrananda, Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Chennai, conceived the idea of this mobile exhibition as a tribute to this great man on the event of his second remembrance day. The Vahini depicts various incidences from Dr.Kalam’s life as well as key highlights of India’s scientific achievements, with an aim to educate and inspire the masses.

Kalam Sandesh Vahini was flagged off by the Shri Narendra Modi, Honourable Prime Minister of India, from Rameswaram on July 27, 2017, during the inauguration ceremony of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s memorial. The vahini will travel through 16 states over 81 days, starting from Rameshwaram, Dr. Kalam’s native town, to the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. Students of Chinmaya University’s Youth Empowerment Programme and members of Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, Youth wing of Chinmaya Mission, will accompany the Vahini and conduct talks, seminars, workshops etc at various educational institutions during this yatra.

The Sandesh Vahini will be received at Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 15, 2017, the birthday of Dr. Kalam, by the President and the Prime Minister of India.
